Halenby brings a website and its ongoing care together in one managed service. I'm building it for organisations whose customers need clear, dependable information, with websites for independent funeral directors, accountants and bookkeepers.
The service combines a design adapted to the business, help preparing supplied content, hosting, maintenance and routine updates. You can explore three fictional example websites before discussing your own.
Why I'm building it
A website needs attention long after launch. Opening hours change, services develop, prices need updating and the people responsible for the content move on. Keeping that information useful takes a process as well as a website.
Halenby starts with the information a particular type of organisation needs to communicate. That gives the website a structure, gives the organisation a clear set of questions to answer, and gives future reviews something specific to check.
Content shaped around your sector
Someone arranging a funeral needs to find a contact number, understand the next step and see clear information about services and costs. For a funeral director, the website brings together practical guidance, service information, prices, locations and opening hours.
An accountancy or bookkeeping practice needs to explain its services, the clients it works with and the people providing the support. The website helps a prospective client understand whether the practice is a suitable fit and how to start a conversation.
The organisation supplies and approves its information. A shared structure helps organise the content, while the business's identity, services and details remain its own.
Three designs to explore
- Willow & Sons shows a funeral-director website with generous space and expressive serif typography Source 2 .
- Oak & Ash shows a more contemporary approach for a funeral director with several locations Source 3 .
- Ledger & Lane shows an accountancy and bookkeeping practice with a personal introduction and warmer colours Source 4 .
All three organisations are fictional. Their services, prices, photographs and contact details are demonstration content. They illustrate design options, rather than customer projects or business results. Each design can be adapted across the supported sectors with the organisation's colours, logo, photographs and content.
A website and ongoing care together
The current managed package is £995 for setup and £95 per month, with no VAT currently charged. It includes an agreed set of pages, a private preview, two rounds of amendments, hosting, technical maintenance, protected backups and up to 30 minutes of routine content updates each month Source 1 .
A straightforward enquiry form is included if needed. The monthly update allowance covers making, checking and publishing routine changes to supplied content; unused time does not roll over. The subscription starts when the website goes live.
The page list and any additional work are agreed before starting. Domain registration and renewal, email hosting, original copywriting and ongoing SEO campaigns are separate. Bespoke design and more complex features can be quoted with their own scope.
Clarity and accessibility from the start
Clear headings, readable content, keyboard access and lightweight pages are part of the design from the beginning. The example websites make their essential information available without JavaScript. Those foundations still need checking against the approved content and the journeys people will use.
Talk through your website
If you run a funeral business, accountancy practice or bookkeeping service, start with the information your customers need and the updates you struggle to keep on top of. The first conversation helps establish the pages, content and support your website needs.
